Preparation
What to Wear….
Your choice of clothing for the photo shoot is really a personal choice; some prefer to be in riding kit and others in casual attire. I would, however, like to recommend the following:
- Generally solid colors work best. Try to avoid floral prints or patterns.
- Denim or khaki’s along with white or plain tones generally work well.
- Bring a change of clothing – accidents of the droolykind and its friends have been known to occur.
- If you are not sure what to wear bring a selection along with you.
- Shots in classic evening wear make for some of my favourite images.
Prep tips
- Get plenty of sleep before a shoot. Bags, dark circles, and bloodshot eyes WILL ruin a photo.
- Sleep at least eight hours a night for the three days prior to your shoot and avoid alcohol. Seriously…
- Instead, drink plenty of water and avoid harsh sun exposure in the days before your shoot.
And of course for the horse
- Limit late night stable parties the day before
- Get your owner to bring along whatever toy piques your interest
- Even better, convince them to bring along some of your favourite nibbles
- Demand a ‘head to hoof groom’ and make-over just before the shoot
